From safely providing affordable energy to businesses and consumers, to maintaining reliability and resiliency and driving down emissions, natural gas and the infrastructure that transports it are foundational to Georgia’s thriving economy and the daily lives of the nearly 2 million state residents who rely on it to provide the comforts of home.

At the Natural Gas Association of Georgia, safety is our core value. As concerns over emissions from natural gas appliances are raised, we look to credible research and objective technical information to guide our work. We encourage regulators and policymakers to look to neutral experts when making decisions, rather than poorly designed studies funded by non-governmental organizations seeking to reduce the use of natural gas and limit consumer choice.

Our members are committed to delivering clean, safe, reliable and affordable fuel to communities across Georgia. We value ongoing engagement with leaders at both the local and national level to ensure decisions impacting our state are based on objective data and are made in the best interests of those we serve.

The U.S. needs clean and accessible energy to continue to grow and thrive, and there is only one domestic fuel source that fits the bill: natural gas.

Natural gas has proven its role in the transition to a lower carbon energy future and it is a foundational fuel needed for the expansion of renewable sources like wind and solar. The decrease in coal-fired generation and its reduced carbon dioxide emissions is made possible by a corresponding increase in gas-fired generation. And even though natural gas distribution companies deliver to customers 99.9% or more of the gas that enters their systems, the industry is charting a path toward net-zero emissions. The public can be assured that the natural gas transportation and distribution system is an incredibly safe, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly system to heat our homes, grow our businesses, cook our meals, and provide us with hot water.
